MYSTERIOUS STONEHENGE

Wiltshire, a province in South West England, with its scenic charm lying ameliorated, interspersed with pristine highlands and grassy plains, hosts the remnants of a stone construction of ancient architecture or the vestige of one of the favorite haunts of those from other planets, which has an environment of mystery surrounding it.

Popularly called ‘Stonehenge’ this construction consists of monolithic sandstone pillars arranged in two circles, one on the inside and the other, rather bigger, girdles it like a belt all around. Huge stone slabs, some appear to have been used as alters for devotional purposes, while others serve as lintels mounted on some pairs of pillars to prevent them falling down. This ancient marvel of architecture, however, has given rise to a great number of questions as to when and how this came into being. Stonehenge is now arguably believed to date back to 3000 B.C., but the way it came into existence doesn’t sound easily traceable, even after years of attempts by historians put down the line. Most of them are of opinion Stonehenge was designed and constructed by ancient aliens who were visitors to earth in so far as pre-historic men were highly unlikely to have developed the technology of carrying such hefty loads of stone slabs some 240 kilometers from Mount Parsley, the place all those sand stones were taken from in as early as in the 3000 B.C. The famous historian Erich Anton Paul spoke to the press that men couldn’t have developed the mental faculty to give shape to this cameo of ancient architecture in such a remote past; it were the aliens who set this up with a geometrical

pattern. An aerial view of Stonehenge will disclose a crop circle in the green field nestling the site. His observation speaks volumes for this ancient marvel having been founded by ancient aliens.

It was in July, 1996 at 6.15 A.M.as par the local time recorded, a pilot and his co-pilot, who were on their way back flying over the site, spotted for the first time the great circle in the field. It looked as if someone had reaped crops shaped like a circle. They were taken by surprise as it hadn’t been there, as they said, when they crossed the place flying over the site minutes before. This circle, which has since then been found several times, is now identified with the mark left on the ground by the space shuttle the aliens are supposed to use to travel to Stonehenge.

This contention of Stonehenge and the crop circle is invariably countered by those of others. The seventeenth century historians characterized it to be one of the masterpieces of Celtic priests. Inigo Jones argues this stone structure steeps in the versatility of Roman architecture. As for the construction works Stonehenge may have percolated into three different ages is what constitutes the other opinion as to how it came into existence. Even if we had revealed the mystery the way Stonehenge was built up we would still have felt no less confused finding out what it was intended for. According to some astronomers it served as a computer to keep track of the solar, stellar and planetary movements in the pre-historic time when this was in vogue. The relevance of computers in the Pre-historic age doesn’t seem to hold truth, leaving at its wake another line of arguments on behalf of the aliens to be the founders. Stonehenge, however, with its unique touch of ancient architectural skills, exhibits a remarkable sang-froid, even in a world afflicted by sporadic disturbances of inhuman intolerance.
